Yusuf to Ganduje: My 8 months in office better than your 8 wasted years

Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, yesterday replied his predecessor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, over his claims of failure in governance, saying Ganduje’s eight-year tenure represented failure and maladministration.

Ganduje, the current National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), had accused Governor Yusuf of using diversionary tactics to cover up for his failure to deliver on his mandate in the state.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje said the governor is shifting public glare from the fact that “there is really nothing on the ground” in the state to justify the sharp increase in statutory allocations to the state since the inception of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

He was reacting to the decision of the Kano State Government to file criminal charges against him over alleged bribery of $413,000, and N1.38 billion.

But Governor Yusuf, in a  statement by his spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, yesterday said Ganduje’s eight years was allegedly characterised by massive corruption, diversion of public funds and sale of government properties.

He said, “Our eight months in office have remarkably outweighed Ganduje’s eight wasted years of political caricature and  maladministration by all standards. We wish to reaffirm the present administration’s resolve and readiness to make anyone found guilty of corruption to face the full wrath of the law for their intentional wrongdoings.

“The administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasises that it would leave no stone unturned to pursue the dollar video scandal  to a logical conclusion. He therefore requests the release of the forensic investigation conducted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) on ‘Gandollar saga’ in 2018, for public consumption.”
