Young Benue businessman and proprietor of high end Makurdi lounge and nightclub, Ace of Spades, has raised alarm over threats to his life, his family and his business interest in the Benue state capital.
In a statement made available to TheNigerian, Mr Ameh Anyebe, said he has received at least two calls from hidden phone numbers, warning him to watch his back constantly and prepare for what is to come very soon upon him and his household.
Mr Anyebe believes that the threats are not unconnected to his committed efforts to curb crimes in the areas immediately within the location of his nightclub and the adjoining quarters. He narrated that prior to the two phone calls from unknown numbers, he had approached his car once and met a note warning him to stop trading in alcohol within the city as alcohol is forbidden by the tenets of one of the two major religions in Nigeria.
It is a known fact that Benue state has been the melting point of several violent attacks on scores of innocent and unsuspecting persons within the last few years. While the cold blooded killings in Benue have continued unabated, it is widely believed that the perpetrators of these crimes are marauding herdsmen who have insisted that the Benue valleys and indeed the entire state belongs to Fulani jihadist conquerors and that the state government or anyone else do not have the rights to stop them from transversing the entire state with their cattle and livestock. There have also been a spate of unsolved political assassinations in the state, including the murder of an aide to the state governor.
Mr Ameh Anyebe has been publicly vocal in the condemnation of the killings in his home state of Benue, and has supported the activities of local vigilante groups within the areas of his business operation, a move which could also have angered some criminals.
At the time of this report, Mr Ameh has not been seen at Ace of Spades or at any of his other business locations, neither has he been taking calls or responding to messages for further updates.
