Nigerian king, Oba Adetona replaces Queen Elizabeth as world’s longest reigning monarch
Nigerian king, Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Ogun State, is now the world’s longest reigning monarch.
The Oba attained the recognition following the death of the Queen of England, Elizabeth II, who died after ruling Britain for 70 years.
TNN reported that British longest reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II died on 8 September 2022, at death: Balmoral Castle, Scotland.
Oba Sikiru Adetona has reigned for 62 years. He was crowned King at the age of 25 on April 2, 1960.
Also, another Nigerian king, Igwe Kenneth Onyeneke, Orizu III, is one of the world’s longest reigning monarch.
He is the king of Nnewi, Anambra State.
He has reigned for 59 years, as he ascended the throne on June 2, 1963.
