W’Cup: Ecuador hold Netherlands to 1-1 draw

The Netherlands blew away an early lead to share points with resilient Ecuador in their second Group A game at the ongoing World Cup on Friday.

Cody Gakpo put the Dutch in the lead just minutes into the game at Khalifa International Stadium.

However, Enner Valencia leveled for Ecuador in the 49th minute.

Despite dominating the game the entire duration, the Netherlands were unable to restore their lead.

Earlier, Senegal defeated the hosts, Qatar 3-1 in the second Group A match.

With today’s results, the Netherlands are top of the group, followed closely by Ecuador with the same four points; Senegal is third with three points while Qatar is at the bottom with zero point.
