Breaking: Senate Confirms Appointments of Service Chiefs

The Chief of Defence Staff and three service chiefs had their appointments confirmed by the Nigerian Senate earlier today.

According to reports, the confirmation was made during plenary on Thursday, after the Senate considered the request made by President Bola Tinubu for the confirmation of the appointments.

Following are the chiefs of the following services who have been confirmed:

The Chief of Defence Staff is Major General Christopher Musa.

Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria are: Major General Taoheed Lagbaja, Chief of the Army Staff; Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogala, Chief of the Naval Staff; Air Vice Marshal Halidu Abubakar, Chief of the Air Staff;

After sending a letter to the Senate on Monday requesting that the Upper Chamber confirm the nomination of the service chiefs, President Tinubu’s request was finally granted, resulting in the confirmation of the appointments of the service chiefs.

The Godswill Akpabio-led Senate had previously dropped hints that the screening of the service chiefs might take place on Thursday. This came about after it was discovered by this newspaper that some preparations were being made inside the chamber, indicating that the screening might take place today.
