The terrorists were reportedly killed in a gun battle that broke out during the operation on Friday, according to a statement made on Saturday by the director of defence media operations, Musa Danmadami.

According to the statement, on June 9, 2023, members of Operation Forest Sanity and the Defence Headquarters Special Forces carried out a clandestine operation to locate bandit hideouts in Maidaro village, located in Kaduna State’s Giwa Local Government Area, where they made contact with terrorists.

Six terrorists were neutralised by the troops during the ensuing firefight, and they also found five AK-47 rifles, 192 rounds of 7.62 x 39 mm special ammunition, 74 rounds of 7.62 x 54 mm special ammunition, nine AK-47 rifle magazines, three IEDs, three Baofeng radios, one PKM, three motorcycles, and other random items.

He pleaded with the populace to promptly inform the military of any terrorist activity going on nearby.

“The military high command commends troops of Operation Forest Sanity and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on terrorists and all criminal activities within their area,” the statement continued.

According to reports, in April 2023, Operation Forest Sanity troops ambushed and killed two bandit leaders who were terrorising Kaduna, among them the infamous Isiya Danwasa.
