Tinubu fired Emefiele late Friday and ordered him to hand over the bank’s Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), Folashodun Shonubi, immediately.
Wike, who was a critic of Emefiele’s policies, particularly the Naira redesign, reacted to the news by calling the President’s decision bold and timely.
According to a statement issued by his media team, the former Rivers State Governor also urged President Tinubu to approve uniformity in the retirement age and pension of judicial officers in the country.
He stated that the President’s action will breathe new life into the nation’s judiciary.
Wike stated that he and his fellow G5 members are impressed by the President’s focused and exemplary leadership, which will lead the country to prosperity.
