PRESIDENT Buhari has received his second dose of the AstraZeneca/Oxford Covid-19 Vaccine.

This happened today, May 29, 2021, at the State House in Abuja as stated on the official Twitter account of the Presidency.

“President @MBuhari receives the second dose of the AstraZeneca/Oxford #COVID19 Vaccine, at the State House, on May 29, 2021. #AsoVillaToday #YesToCovid19Vaccine,” the tweet read.

The first batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Nigeria on March 2, 2021.

Buhari was administered few days later alongside Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

The first shot of the vaccine was given to a medical doctor at the National Hospital, Abuja, Cyprian Nyong while Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib,  administered the dosage.

Last week, the Federal Government asked those who had received the first jab of the vaccine to proceed for a second.

Shuaib said the second jab will ensure full protection against Covid-19.

“We are advising all Nigerians who have received their first dose to check their vaccination cards for the date of their second dose, and ensure that they receive the second dose to gain full protection against Covid-19,” Shuaib had said.

Currently there over 166,000 positive cases in the country with over 90 per cent discharged and 2,071 fatalities.
