The pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the Bayero University, Kano, Dr Mahmud Tukur, has died.
Tukur, a former Minister of Commerce and Industry, passed away in the early hours of Friday in Abuja.

He was also a former director of Cadbury Nigeria.
Dr Tukur was a close associate of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Reports say he died from an undisclosed ailment after being rushed to a hospital in Abuja from his base in Kaduna, last night.
