As the next general elections draw near, the Beehive Initiative has commenced moves to ensure that more women participate and emerge as winners in the forthcoming polls.
The group which held a civic engagement march for gender balance in Abuja today said including more women in governance will assist in changing the society.
Zainab Marwa Abubakar, a co- founder of the initiative who spoke to journalists shortly before the commencement of the march said women at all levels specifically graduates will be targeted.
She said the initiative will also embark on advocacy and mentoring programs to prepare the next generation of women for service.
The initiative among other things will also build a solid platform around the principles of imparting political enlightenment and supporting women on their political journeys from the very beginning, this will foster growth development and create a portal in Nigeria for developing gender balance in politics, governance and decision making based on principles of integrity and a win-win mindset.
It will also build an army of politically inclined and competent women, fully charged, fit and ready to serve humanity on all planes of political participation and in all aspects of social and economic development to achieve gender balance and equity”she said
