Gent and Super Eagles forward, Gift Orban, has clarified that contrary to speculations that he has on the verge of representing the Togolese national team, he never contemplated playing for The Sparrowhawks.

Orban said he never represented Togo at any level.

He, however, admitted that his mother is a Togolese woman while his dad is from Taraku in Gwer East local government area of Benue State.

“I don’t like Nigeria. I love it. This country has good players, good talents. I love this country.

“It’s false. I never played for Benin [Republic] and Togo. Many people were spreading the rumours but I never played for Togo. Togo need players but I don’t want to play for them.

“My mum is from Togo but my father is from Nigeria, Taraku in Benue State precisely,” he told Fans Tribe in an interview.

Orban was handed a maiden Super Eagles’ invite by Jose Peseiro recently for Nigeria’s last AFCON qualifier game against Sao Tome & Principe
